Why I Built This

In 2022, I was trying to get a D7 visa for Portugal. I spent weeks googling "immigration lawyer Lisbon," reading Reddit threads, asking in Facebook groups, and getting conflicting advice. Some lawyers didn't speak English. Others charged outrageous fees for basic services. One ghosted me after I paid the consultation fee.

I thought: I've done this in 25 countries now. I know which experts are good and which are not. I understand what expats need because I am one. Why doesn't a platform like this exist?

So I built it.

How It Works

Expats & Nomads is a free matching service. You tell us where you're going and what you need. We connect you with a verified expert who specializes in your exact situation. No cost to you — ever. The experts pay us for the introduction, not you.

Every expert in our network is vetted: licensed, English-speaking, experienced with international clients, and reviewed by real users. If your match isn't right, we find another one.

About Me

I'm Alba Mamatov, founder of Expats & Nomads. I've relocated across 25 countries over the past 5 years — not as a tourist, but as someone who had to open bank accounts, sign leases, file taxes, apply for visas, and find lawyers in places where I didn't always speak the language or know the rules.

Every move taught me the same lesson: finding a trustworthy expert shouldn't be this hard. So I built a platform that solves it — verified professionals, matched to your situation, for free.
